Our Screening Process

Nannies of Green Hills, LLC values its reputation and standing in the Nashville community, and has established a rigorous interview and screening process for all potential caregivers.

The following requirements must be met for a candidate’s application to be considered:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Non-smoker
  • Citizen of U.S. or legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Reliable vehicle with current Registration and Insurance
  • Clean Driving Record
  • High School Diploma
  • A minimum of 3 -5 Significant Childcare References
All nannies with a possibility for placement are brought in for a first interview, where personal information is obtained and a level of competency is determined. All references are checked for nannies that we determine are "placeable" including past employment, childcare and personal references.
A nanny with completed references is then scheduled for her second interview with Andrea Tilley, the owner of the agency, who makes the final decision of who will represent her company. Nannies considered Eligible For Referral also meet this criteria:
  • Pass in-person interview with NOGH Owner
  • Pass the NOGH 50 Point Candidate Assessment
  • Pass full criminal background check, including felony and misdemeanor charges (Clean driving record included)
  • Absence from national sex offender registry
  • CPR certification within 60 days of registration
  • Accept NOGH Code of Behavior
  • Safe Driving Pledge
  • Commitment Pledge
Additional screening like credit checks, health screens or drug tests can be performed per client request. These are the criteria that experience has shown us to be effective in establishing a strong nanny candidate pool. We remain diligent to add new requirements and policies to this process as deemed appropriate.

Our Placement Process

If you are interested in hiring a nanny registered with our agency, Nannies of Green Hills, LLC would be happy to begin the placement process for you.

Step 1: Consultation

We will schedule an initial phone call with the owner to discuss your childcare needs. This consultation will give us an opportunity to learn more about your family and your values, and the acute details of your job description in order to form your Client Profile. (We will also provide every client with our Client Orientation Packet)

Step 2: Interviewing

Once your Client Profile is edited and complete, NOGH will present it to our pre-screened nannies whose experience and availability best match your profile requirements. As we identify candidates that are potentially a “good fit” for you, we will email you their Nanny Profile. We will schedule all interviews for you and will arrange to have the candidate either meet you in your home or at a public location of your choice. We are happy to schedule interviews with a host of screened candidates until you find the perfect match for your family.

Step 3: Working Interview

Nannies of Green Hills strongly suggests that part of your nanny hiring process includes a working interview.

"A working interview is an introduction to your household, routines, schedules, and neighborhood, smoothing the transition process if and when you decide to move forward with a nanny. It is a trial run and should closely mirror actual home life, whether that’s picking a child up from school or playing at home for the day."

Working interviews can last anywhere from a few hours to a full day of employment. After your working interview is completed, and you are confident that the caregiver is a good fit, it is time to put together a formal offer of employment.

Step 4: Hiring

When you have reached the decision to hire a candidate, we will assist you in putting together an offer letter for the nanny and also assist you in drafting a contract. We will also provide guidance regarding the financial and legal responsibilities of household employers.

FAQ

  • How Do You Locate Your Nannies?

Most of our nannies come to us by way of referrals, either by other nannies we have placed, or by clients whose positions are ending.

  • How Do I Determine What a Nanny Will Cost?

One of the most frequently asked questions posed to our agency is "How do I determine how much a nanny will cost?"

Most nannies in Nashville are asking to make between $20-$30 per hour.  As an employer, you will also need to budget for your employment taxes.

The best source I have found to determine the exact breakdown of wages and taxes is at:

  • Do You Service Outside of Green Hills?

Absolutely. We feel confident that we can provide nannies to Nashville and its surrounding areas. Locations we have placed are Hendersonville, Goodlettesville, East Nashville, Green Hills, Bellevue, Brentwood, and Franklin.

  • About How Many Nannies Can I Expect to See Before Hiring?

Most families see between 1 and 5 applicants before making a hire. As nannies and clients exchange information prior to their interview, we are able to ensure that when an interview is arranged, both parties are interested in each other.

  • Do All Nannies Have Previous Childcare Experience?

Absolutely. We must have at least 3 significant childcare references from a nanny before considering her for placement.
